WP: CYBER SECURITY: PENETRATION TESTING AND OTHER METHODS

The world we live in is rapidly changing. A number of smart devices are being installed, both in industrial and residential environments, which are able to communicate in networks, being readout and controlled on distance. Some applications, like for instance with smart utility meters, make use of dedicated networks, consisting of specific communication methods, data concentrators and head end systems. In other areas devices make use of the internet, which is very popular in Smart City and Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications. Penetration testing can be a good means to examine possible vulnerabilities. However, it is for sure not the only method to determine whether a device or a system is mature enough with respect to cyber-security. This document discusses important aspects of a cyber security assessment, including penetration testing and other aspects as well.
