He’s spent his career driving change in complex, regulated sectors—most notably as CEO of Alliander, one of the Netherlands’ largest grid operators. Today, he chairs Top Sector Energie, the Dutch government’s national innovation program for sustainable energy, and sits on the Board of Directors of ABB E-Mobility, helping steer one of the fastest-growing sectors in the clean tech space.

The energy transition demands systemic change, guided by long-term thinking, regulatory clarity, and relentless collaboration. “We need continuous innovation across the board,” he says. “But we also need the market and regulatory structures to catch up—so that new technologies don’t just exist, but scale.”

Peter has seen firsthand what’s required to get there. Under his leadership, Top Sector Energie has driven major breakthroughs in offshore wind, hydrogen development, and large-scale energy renovation, all while navigating the complexities of a fragmented policy landscape.
