Both Dutch and European regulations allow manufacturers of measuring instruments to conduct their own initial verification or re-verification of instruments, according to a quality system. Why? This saves time and money in the production process. The quality system concerned must be certified by a Notified Body (MID) (Dutch Metrology Act – Nationale Metrologiewet). Then a certificate is issued. This certificate spells out the scope and powers.
CE Metrology is a scheme for assessing the quality system related to the production and verification of measuring instruments. This scheme is set out in the European Union MID and NAWI Directives. After certification under this scheme, you can conduct the initial verification of your own products. The government has designated NMi as a Notified Body to conduct type examinations, verifications, and quality assurance. We have all the necessary facilities and expertise to assess your product and production process in accordance with the statutory regulations.
UKCA & UKNI are product markings used for products being placed on the market in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland) and Northern Ireland. They cover most products that previously required the CE mark to enter the UK market on 1 January 2021. After certification, you can conduct the initial verification of your products. Manufacturers wishing to retain access to the UK market for their products must have UKCA certification by 1 January 2025. UKAS has accredited NMi Certin UK (TIC) Ltd., and the UK government has designated NMi Certin UK (TIC) Ltd. as an Approved Body to conduct type examinations, verifications, and quality assurance. We have all the necessary facilities and expertise to assess your product and production process in accordance with the statutory regulations.
NL Metrology is the scheme for assessing the quality system related to verifying and re-verifying that measuring instruments comply with Dutch regulations. This applies to measuring instruments installed in the field as referred to in the Dutch Metrology Act. After approval of the management system, the certificate holder may carry out activities as an Accredited Verifier.
A qualified lead assessor (IRCA certified) supervises the audit of your quality system. Depending on the field, specialists in our teams are assigned to evaluate your metrological processes. More specific information is available in the certification rules of NMi Certification. These provide an objective and independent description of how a certification decision is reached. Once the audit has been completed, you receive an audit report and a certificate.
