NMi Strengthens Leadership Team with New Appointments

25 January 2023

The senior appointments help facilitate the NMi Group’s continued modernisation and growth strategy, which is focused on building organically and through acquisitions.

Delft, 24 January 2023 – NMi appoints two senior team members as part of broader strategic enhancements across the organisation’s structure, service offerings and processes to provide stakeholders and clients with more efficient, innovative, and timely sustainable service solutions. NMi’s growth continues both organically and through acquisitions.

Jon Shan has been appointed Managing Director of Chamois Metrology and Young Calibration. NMi acquired both companies as part of its acquisition strategy, which began last year. Chamois and Young Calibration are amongst the UK’s premier calibration laboratories, recognised throughout the UK and beyond for their high calibre services and extensive knowledge.

Ton Verburg has been named Operations Director at NMi and will lead the Operations Business Lines of Type Approval, Audits, Laboratories, Calibration & Verification, and Training & Advisory services. Ton joins NMi from Lloyds Register Quality Assurance — formerly part of the Lloyds Register Group — a global professional services company specialising in Testing, Inspection and Certification and Maritime Advisory. He served as North European Operations Manager and Director of Inspection Services.

“NMi has built its reputation as a trusted partner by putting our expertise, integrity and dedication to work for customers, helping them solve the challenges necessary to bring products to market,” said Verburg. “I look forward to harnessing that collective strength to further enhance high-quality services that allow NMi to build a solid foundation for future acquisitions.”

Jon and Ton will be part of the NMi Management Team and report directly to Yvo Jansen.

On how these appointments are helping to drive the business forward, Yvo Jansen said: “These senior appointments demonstrate our commitment to our 5-year strategic growth plan. As our footprint grows across Europe, we must ensure we have the operational capabilities to serve our customers and grow the business. Greater professionalisation and organisational efficiencies arrive with the appointment of Ton Verburg to head our operations across the business. Our recent acquisitions in the UK have given us a broader scope of calibration services to offer our customers throughout Europe and the UK. Jon Shan’s expertise across multiple sectors, and his technical knowledge and international experience, will be an asset to all areas of NMi’s business. Exciting opportunities await.”

The NMi Group senior leadership team, in consultation with the Board of Directors, is undertaking several business initiatives to align the Group’s internal operating structure best while modernising processes and positioning its global service offerings in emerging technologies, innovation areas and sustainable services. The new hires form part of — and will help to accelerate — these new initiatives.

NMi is a market leader in the Advisory, Testing, Inspection, Certification and Calibration of measuring and metering technologies for sectors encompassing energy and utilities, mobility and transportation, packaging and weighing, and food and retail.
