With the different markets and services, we have to have a diversity of people. From technicians, administrative assistants, technical engineers, marketing communication specialists, laboratory technicians and sales managers. Everyone contributes to NMi’s great and worldwide reputation with their knowledge and hands on mentality.
Basically, I make sure that our field technicians on the road have a working schedule every day. My work comes down to being a spider in the web. Receiving and processing requests from clients, knowing which colleague can do what, putting the puzzle together and passing on the daily schedules is mainly what I do. I am a social person and I have fun engaging with maps, so I really like how that comes together in this job.
I start earlier than most at 06:30 in the morning. This is because that gives me time to react to any sick calls or other unexpected cancellations. I make sure those cancellations are replaced timely, so my colleagues can hit the road on time at 08:00 sharp. When these cases are settled, I proceed with processing all outstanding client requests in my mailbox.
I processed all the requests from clients already in the morning, so now I map out what needs to be done specifically. Is the instrument in question already calibrated and approved for inspection? That way I prepare as much as possible so our field technicians can get straight to work. When I’ve gathered all the relevant information, I’m ready to put the puzzle together and find out the most efficient routes per colleague for tomorrow. What is the fastest route with the least emissions?
At the end of the day the field technicians are driving, the customer is informed, and the schedule for the next day is made. If all goes well, my work is done for today. But then, half an hour before my workday is over, a client cancels our appointment. I must react quickly and find out how to fill this gap. Fortunately the colleague wasn’t on his way to that client just yet, so I switch some plans around to make sure that he can work elsewhere and operations remain efficient. It’s 15:00, my day flew by but now it’s time to hit the road myself. I’m going home!
