Particle Number Counters

The need for instruments is increasing due to a need to check particle numbers in the exhausts of diesel vehicles, in order to check diesel particle filters are working.

NMi took the lead in the VERT group to draft a Proposal for Particle Number Counters used in Periodical Technical Inspection (PTI). In the Netherlands this proposal is already implemented in  national regulation. Belgium included the proposal in a national tender. The proposal is also very close to Swiss regulation for particle number counters for machinery.

From now on, NMi can examine these instruments and when an instrument passes the examinations issue a national type of examination certificate together with a certificate according to the Proposal.
